16th World Soundtrack Awards Gala

Edition 2016
On 19 October 2016, the international film music scene gathered in Ghent for the 16th edition of the World Soundtrack Awards, the prestigious film music prizes of Film Fest Gent.

The Award Ceremony at the World Soundtrack Awards Gala is followed by a concert entirely dedicated to TV series, with compelling live performances by David Arnold and Michael Price's exciting and atmospheric score for the British-American drama series Sherlock and Max Richter's haunting minimalistic soundtrack for the cult-drama series The Leftovers. Several composers make their way to the stage for the world première of a live performance of their work. American composer and arranger Jeff Russo plays the drums for his Emmy-nominated music from Fargo; Sean Callery, best known for his suspense-driven scores for 24 and Homeland, is playing the piano for a suite from the latter; Jeff Beal performs the trumpet solo from his forceful and foreboding score for the Netflix drama House of Cards.

After honouring so many guests of the Western music world, this year's Lifetime Achievement Award goes to an iconic composer from the East: Ryuichi Sakamoto.
