Alexandre Desplat Best Film Composer of the year at the 14th World Soundtrack Awards
This year’s Best Original Song Written Directly for a Film is ‘Happy’ from ‘Despicable Me 2’, written and performed by Pharrell Williams. Discovery of the Year 2014 is Daniel Pemberton for ‘Cuban Fury’ and ‘The Counselor’. Michelino Bisceglia’s music for ‘Marina’ won the Spotify Public Choice Award.
After the annual presentation of the prestigious film music prizes, Brussels Philharmonic, conducted by Dirk Brossé, played a striking selection from the extensive oeuvre of the guest of honour, Cliff Martinez. Jef Neve's music for the television series ‘In Flanders Fields’ was also given a well-deserved place in the concert, as was the music of Lifetime Achievement Award winner Francis Lai and Discovery of 2013 Dan Romer.
