From the 10th until the 20th of October Ghent will be taken over by Film Fest Gent and the World Soundtrack Awards. Vooruit Arts Centre will become the place to enjoy an interesting cross-pollination of image and music from the 11th until the 21th (yes, we added an extra day for our famous afterparty!) – thanks to the collaboration between Film Fest Gent & Vooruit. The event will kickoff on the 11th of October with Belgian band STUFF. and their live adaptation of the music of film composer Howard Shore.

Between the 11th and the 21th of October 2017 image and sound are united once more at Vooruit. Film Fest Gent & Vooruit present an exclusive and elaborate programme with a lot of live soundtracks and work by different video artists. The programme is a result of the close collaboration between Vooruit and Film Fest Gent.

STUFF., who played an excellent set at Gent Jazz earlier this month, will be the opening act of the Film Fest Gent & Vooruit programme on the 11th of October. During ‘STUFF. plays Howard Shore’ the band will improvise live based on the music of composer Howard Shore for the films of David Cronenberg. They play in a video-installation which was designed for occasion especially by Frederik Jassogne and Bart Moens.

Mary Orcher (18/10) and Roman Hiele (19/10) will each treat visitors to a unique filmscore. Hiele will compose music to accompany an animated film by artist Gabriela González. Video artist Heleen Blanken will provide the visuals for an exclusive Belgian show by international collective Gaussian Curve (12/10). Hamburg based synthpop artits Felix Kubin will perform the Belgian premiere of ‘Trakt Der Arbeit’ (19/10). Goblin will perform their music fort he cult horror classic ‘Dawn Of The Dead’ of Romero (20/10), and Heleen Van Haegenborgh & Frederik Leroux (15/10) will provide the soundtrack for a film… that doesn’t exist.

This programme was realised by Vooruit Arts Centre and Film Fest Gent, together with Stroom.tv, Gouvernement, Springstof and Art Cinema OFFoff.
