International Master in Composition for Screen: second student workshop
Since September 2014 the ICSS partnership has been working on an analysis of the current state of the arts of the sector of music composition for visual media. The results of this survey constitute the first outcome of the ICSS Erasmus+ strategic partnership. The shape and content of the InMICS curriculum will be based on these findings.
They organized the first creative workshop at the end of February 2016 in Bologna with students in audiovisual arts and music composition for visual media from the four Higher Education Institutions involved in the project.
This week, InMICS partners gather in Lyon for a second workshop with students in visual arts and in composition for the screen. CNSMD de Lyon (France) will welcome the participants of the first InMICS workshop in Bologna for another week of collaborative work, this time dedicated to the production and post-production of film music. Valerie Dobbelaere, coordinator of the music projects at Film Fest Gent, will also be attending the workshop.
The students will record the music written for the short films directed by students from KASK in the studios with students from the CNSMD de Lyon. Timothy Brock (American composer and conductor) will supervise the recording sessions and share his experience with the students. Martin Barnier (professor of film studies at the University Lyon 2) will hold a conference on the history of music and sound in cinema. Students, teachers as well as other representatives of the InMICS partnership will go to the Institut Lumière to visit this emblemactic place of the history of cinema.
The four short films will be presented with the music composed by the students at the International Film Festival in Aubagne in March 2017.
