George Christopoulos
George Christopoulos, a passionate advocate of film music, transitioned from a successful career as a multimedia event creative director in 2009. Inspired by his involvement as a director of the first ever film music concert of the renowned Japanese composer Shigeru Umebayashi (“In the Mood for Love”), George founded the talent agency OTICONS to represent global film composers, with a particular focus on independent cinema.
Today, the agency boasts a diverse roster of over 25 composers, including industry luminaries like Shigeru Umebayashi, Yann Tiersen (“Amelie”), Johnny Klimek (“Matrix 4”), Jean-michel Bernard (“Science of Sleep”), Tuomas Kantelinen (“Mongol”) and the legendary Miriam Cutler, known for her work on acclaimed documentaries (“RGB”).
In 2014, George's vision expanded with the establishment of the OTICONS FACULTY International Film Music Competition, an annual contest that has since attracted more than 2000 participants from 46 countries. The Oticons Faculty is now regarded by the international film music community as the most groundbreaking platform for discovering and nurturing the most talented emerging film composers.
George is also a lecturer at esteemed institutions in the field of film scoring and a dedicated mentor of emerging and established film & media composers. As a mentor, he offers personalized mentoring courses aimed at helping them navigate the complexities of the industry and enhance their career trajectories.
