Sascha Blank
Sascha Blank is a German film composer and multi-instrumentalist based in Berlin, who composes music for award-winning documentaries, feature films, TV series, and commercials. His most recent project, Wings of Dust, directed by Giorgio Ghiotto, has just been shortlisted for the Oscars 2024 and previously awarded a Student Academy Award Gold, following the paths of world-renowned artists like Spike Lee and Pete Docter. Furthermore, Sascha was nominated for Best Score (Doc Shorts) at the Hollywood Music in Media Awards 2023 for his music in The Shark with a Thousand Names directed by The Jetlagged. The film premiered at the Ocean Film Festival San Francisco in April 2023.
Sascha studied pop/world and classical music for piano in Rostock, Germany, and majored in Composition for Film and TV in London, UK. His compositions are regularly placed on television shows on NBC, ITV, BBC, ARD, and NDR and can also be heard on numerous TV and online commercials for clients such as Mercedes Benz, eBay, Mister Spex and Asam Beauty. His original score for the psychodrama Mentally Apart, directed by Joe Pomarico, was awarded the Los Angeles Motion Picture Award (Best Score), Los Angeles Film Award (Honorable Mention: Score), and New York Film Award (Best Score).
Recent projects include the Amazon Originals Documentary Series Uncensored – Bushido’s Truth, Story im Ersten (ARD) Wheat as Weapon, the TV-wildlife documentary mini series Parents in the Wild and Werewolf Santa, a horror film by Anthony Hayles, which premiered at Fright Fest London in 2023.
