After the overwhelming concert at Sportpaleis in Antwerp, Ennio Morricone has chosen the Saint Peter’s Square in Ghent for two exclusive shows in the Benelux. On Saturday 25th and Sunday June 26th 2016 (extra show!) his fans and the press will witness a concert by the maestro at the impressive location of the Saint Peter’s Square, with the beautiful Saint Peter’s Abbey in the background.
16th World Soundtrack Awards: Composed for Television

Held on October 19th, the World Soundtrack Awards will celebrate its 16th edition focusing on television scores this year. Brussels Philharmonic and the Flemish Radio Choir will perform the compelling scores, conducted by Dirk Brossé and accompanied by film fragments on the big screen. The traditional film music concert will be held during the second part of the World Soundtrack Awards and will, for the first time, be repeated the day after the World Soundtracks Awards Gala on Oct 20th during the WSA Concert.
Tickets for the World Soundtrack Awards Gala and the WSA Concert can be bought from 22nd of March.

‘The Artist’ – or how a small, silent black-and-white film conquered the world in 2011. A gamble for director Michel Hazanavicius, who came with his gem of a film to Belgium to record the music. Together with Ludovic Bource, he camped out for a week in Studio 4 at Flagey, and the rest is now history. Five years after the recording the dream team is getting back together for two live performances in Brussels, and you get a chance to attend the concert on Friday 9th of September.

The 16th edition of the World Soundtrack Awards shines the spotlight on television scores, showcasing the music from the most beloved television shows in recent history. Brussels Philharmonic and the Flemish Radio Choir will perform the scores from series including Fargo, Homeland, House of Cards, Sherlock and The Leftovers with composers JEFF RUSSO, SEAN CALLERY, JEFF BEAL, DAVID ARNOLD and MAX RICHTER in attendance. For the first time, the World Soundtrack Awards will feature two concert programs: the World Soundtrack Awards Gala – the traditional award ceremony and concert – on October 19th and a second WSA Concert without ceremony on October 20th.
Ryuichi Sakamoto receives World Soundtrack Lifetime Achievement Award

The Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to Ryuichi Sakamoto at the 16th World Soundtrack Awards Gala on the 19th of October in Ghent, following the festival’s spotlight on Japanese cinema. A selection of his work will be performed by Brussels Philharmonic conducted by Dirk Brossé.

Every year the Advisory Board of the World Soundtrack Academy chooses a ‘Discovery of the Year’ to celebrate emerging film composing talent. Famous composers as Klaus Badelt, Antonio Pinto, Craig Armstrong, Michael Giacchino, Gustavo Santaolalla, Nico Muhly, Abel Korzeniowski, Alex Heffes, Dan Romer, Daniel Pemberton and last year’s Antonio Sanchez were discovered by the WSA Advisory Board.
