Oh yes, it's jazz! The 17th edition of the World Soundtrack Awards celebrates a century of jazz music influencing the art of film scoring.

During the Symphonic Jazz Concert the best symphonic jazz soundtracks of the last century are brought to life, accompanied by clips on the big screen from the films they were written for. Maestro Dirk Brossé conducts both Brussels Philharmonic and Brussels Jazz Orchestra, and none other than David Shire, this year's recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award, will accompany the performance of some of his works on the piano.

Guest of Honour is world-renowned trumpeter, jazz musician and composer Terence Blanchard. During the annual World Soundtrack Awards Concert & Ceremony, taking place on the 18th of October at Capitole Ghent, Blanchard will take the stage to play the moving score ‘Levees’ with the Brussels Philharmonic. We also warmly welcome back Joe Kraemer, last year's Discovery of the Year.

Other parts of the annual programme include the Film Music Seminar (with Joe Kraemer, Terence Blanchard, David Shire and Walter Murch on jazz in film) and the Industry Day, which is filled with masterclasses and panels covering a wide range of topics by numerous professionals from different fields in the film music industry. Last but not least, expect a fantastic line-up for the Meet & Greet!
